accessibility reviewer. Also, I "only have to test in NVDA", as that is what the reviewer is using. Obviously I want to test across browsers and assistive technologies, but the whole culture of this company/project is "Let's just do enough", and to me that is completely ..Permalink On twitter.com

unacceptable. Furthermore, the project has been ongoing for more than two years, and I've only just started, and I have never (in more than 20 years in the business) seen such a bad codebase. the entire frontend is littered with un-necessary "role"-attributes and "aria-*"-attributes. One example: the have wrapped the main navigation (which is a div-element) in a ... wait for it ... fieldset, "to make sure that screenreaders will convey the info"! ...Permalink On twitter.com

I'm less than two weeks into this assignment, and I don't think I'll last much longer. I have seriously never seen anything like it, and it's such a shame, because it's an important and public (tax-funded!) project, but the quality of the codebase and the culture in the place ...Permalink On twitter.com
